Caterpillar to sell former Bucyrus unit in Canada

Caterpillar Global Mining LLC, the Oak Creek-based mining equipment division of Caterpillar Inc., has reached a deal to sell a former Bucyrus equipment distribution and support business in eastern Canada to Hewitt Equipment Ltd. of Quebec.

The former Bucyrus business, which was acquired when Peoria, Ill.-based Caterpillar (NYSE: CAT) acquired Oak Creek-based Bucyrus International Inc. in 2011, serves the province of Quebec, western Labrador and the maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Hewitt and its subsidiary, Atlantic Tractors & Equipment Ltd., will acquire the business in a transaction expected to close Aug. 1.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
