Mark Webber expresses full confidence in his new race engineer ? Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has expressed full confidence in his new race engineer, Simon Rennie and believes that the departure of Ciaron Pilbeam will have no affect on their chances of winning the 2013 Formula 1 World Championship.
Pilbeam, who was Webber?s race engineer for the last seven years, has moved to Lotus to assist Kimi Raikkonen in this season. Pilbeam?s place has been filled by Rennie who was Raikkonen?s race engineer in 2012.
The Australian driver has said that such changes happen in the world of autosport. But, he is positively looking forward to perform well for his team in this season. In addition, he said that although Ciaron has departed from their team, but they are still a strong team and are fully motivated to win the championship.
?This is part of Formula One,? he said. ?Unfortunately there are sometimes changes but it's moved in a way so that everyone is still positive to work with and we have a fresh start and a new environment. Ciaron is happy to have a change of scenery as well and you don't want him to be unhappy where he is. So overall we still have strong team and one that can challenge for the championship.?
Besides, he said that it is up to him to keep up the level of his performance in this season in order to score competitive points with consistency for his team. Furthermore, he said that his aim is to fight for the title.
?But for sure we have achieved some really good things and I have another opportunity this year to achieve some good things and get the last box ticked,? he added.
It will be important to mention that the Aussie performed convincingly well in the preceding season. He stood amongst one of the most consistent drivers in the first few races. However, he faced some technical issues in his car due to which he failed to score points with consistency.
Nonetheless, he is targeting to come up stronger right from the start of this season. Let?s see how he performs alongside his teammate, Sebastian Vettel in this year?s championship.
