My brother is 17 years old. My grandmother who lived with us for years has recently died and my mom is by herself every day because I am in college and my brother doesn?t come home at all. When he does come home all he does is yell and talk down to my mom. He recently got into drugs and ended up in the hospital for LSD and has been smoking cigarettes. Although smoking cigarettes is very common, our father died of lung cancer when I was 7 and my brother was four, so to me this is extremely disrespectful. He says he didn?t know my dad well enough to care about that kind of thing.
My brother constantly lies to my mom about everything but we catch him in them every time. He also stole my father?s gold coins from my moms drawer that he had bought as an investment to help us out in the long run when they are worth more money. He pawned them and spent the money partially on a bead and breakfast with his ex girlfriend. First of all, he is not old enough to pawn things and not old enough to get a bead and breakfast, but he must have a fake ID. The worst part is is that when my mom expresses to him that she needs him home for comfort due to the fact that her mother just died, he tells her to ?be a big girl? and deal with it.
He is a smartass to me all of the time and it makes me want to punch him in the face. My mom just keeps dishing him out gas money and lets him do whatever he wants. I think she is scared of him. I don?t know how to deal with this without physically hurting him. It?s hard because he doesn?t have a male influence in his life, but is there anyone out there who can relate or can point me in the right direction of what to do before I blow up?
